Chris Platte is currently a student in the School of Journalism at Michigan State University. In 2014 Chris Platte started his own podcast. The podcast started with covering only the NBA but in 2016 Chris added another podcast to his feed called "Strictly Hip-Hop." The Strictly Hip-Hop podcast covers everything in the genre of hip-hop, from reviewing the latest albums to philosophical discussions about the culture and impact of hip-hop, to interviewing professional and emerging artists and much more. NBA basketball and hip-hop are his biggest passions and it propelled him to make the podcasts. After creating both podcasts, Chris decided to combined the two podcasts in to one feed which is free and available on iTunes, Apple Podcasts, Podbean and soon to be all other podcast platforms. Over the course of 2016, Strictly Hip-Hop and Strictly Hoop-Talk grew from the average podcast to 100,000 plays in a year and a partnership with Dead End Hip-Hop one of the most respected platforms in hip-hop. The podcast features a wide variety of guests such as former NBA Players, professional sports writers and broadcasters for many different networks and publications, professional music critics, professional and local artists and much more. The success of the podcast opened new opportunities for him including a feature story on his podcasts by the Michigan State publication ING and becoming Vice President of the Official MSU Hip-Hop Club.
